Cows Go On Roadtrip
Linda Sprau Art Newsletter
Hello 2021!
For many, last year was not much fun. Looking back on what I enjoyed most, I realized the answer was artwork. I was curious why painting would make this difficult year seem easier to handle so I googled “Art as Meditation.” I found an article written by Maia Gambis, “Why Making Art is the New Meditation.” The article states that art like meditation, allows us to create space between our own negative, anxious thoughts and connect with our true selves - as opposed to the fleeting or false sense of identity we sometimes have when caught up in our thoughts and emotions. Many U-tube videos are on line about creating art. Give it a try if you are feeling stressed; It might help.

The painting featured on this January Newsletter is called “Out to Pasture.”It was taken from two different photographs. One was of an old, dilapidated building in Oysterville, WA. and the other was a photo of a couple of my cousin’s cows. I love the look of old run-down buildings and wanted to paint the Oysterville house, but felt it needed something else. When I finished the painting I texted a copy to the cows owner and told her that her cows went on a road trip to the beach. That is the beauty of “artistic license,” you can make a picture of anything you want. It's so freeing!

I added a Christmas bouquet painting to my website, so take a look if you haven’t checked it out lately. (www.lindasprau.com) Also check out www.gbstudio.gallery.com for more local art.
sincerely
